Foundation North starts funding for cultural diversity

Foundation North starts funding for cultural diversity

Grants to six arts organisations representative of Auckland’s cultural diversity have been made by Foundation North. The organisations are Auckland Festival Trust, He Waka Eke Noa Charitable Trust, Ngati Whatua Orakei Whai Maia Ltd, Silo Theatre, TAPACA and The Oryza Foundation for Asian Performing Arts.

The grants, totalling $183,486.00, are a result of Foundation North’s partnership with Creative New Zealand in the Auckland Diversity Project. This offers support for projects that engage with Māori, Pacific and Asian communities and artists in the region. The grants match grants made to these organisations by Creative New Zealand.

“As the community trust for Auckland and Northland, we serve an increasingly
culturally diverse population,” Foundation North CEO Jenny Gill said. “We are pleased to be able to work with Creative New Zealand to support artists from a range of cultures to bring their stories to their own communities, and the wider regional community.”
