First Samoan Methodist Church in NZ Releases Debut Cd Album; Fetū Ao

Established in 1964, the Grey Lynn Samoan Methodist Church was the first Samoan Methodist parish in New Zealand outside of Samoa and American Samoa. The Samoan Methodist movement later expanded to the rest of New Zealand, Australia and across the globe.

Under the ministry of the Auckland North Synod Superintendent; Rev. Oianata’i Matalē & Fa’apaia, the Grey Lynn Samoan Methodist Church cordially invites the wider community to the official launch of their debut album; Fetū Ao (Morning Star) named after the church hall well-known to many in the community for more than 50 years.

The CD launch is on Saturday 14 May, 2016 at the Fetū Ao Hall: 2-4 King Street, Grey Lynn. The programme includes a 9:00am blessing of the CD, 10:00am breakfast, 11:00am entertainment and 12:00pm Lunch.

The album comprises of 12 tracks including Samoan renditions of Handel, Brooklyn Tabernacle Gospel Choir, classical music & original Samoan choral compositions. The choir is under the musical direction of Seumanu Simon Matāfai & Talatonu Tuiali’i. The Fetū Ao album was recorded by renowned music producer; Emmanuel Ensink.
