A raft of exciting film awards will be presented to a range of Maori and Pasifika film makers next weekend at the Wairoa Maori Film Festival.
"Wairoa Maori Film Festival has secured over $10,000 in prizes from sponsors across the country," says Festival Director Leo Koziol. "Support from Bright Sunday, Stark Studios, PET Southern Star, T-Tahiti, Radio Waatea and others will support film makers in their aspirations now and into the future."
The Gala Awards evening includes award presentations, keynote Dr. Rangimarie Rose Pere - keeper of the "Kura Huna", musical performances by Troy Kingi and Melody McKiver (Canada) and short film screenings.
At the Wairoa Maori Film Awards Gala next weekend the following awards will be announced, with prizes attached:

Alongside the above eight awards, two awards will also be made to the WIFT Wairoa Mana Wahine Award co-recipients, Nancy Brunning and Rachel House.
The Maori Short Film Audience Awards will also be decided at the Wairoa Maori Film Festival (Best Short Film, Best Actress and Best Actor), with prizes to be presented at a "Brown Carpet" event in Auckland in July. The Audience Award for Best Short Film includes a $1,000 prize from Radio Waatea.
