Samantha Hayes And Mike Mcroberts To Co-Host Newshub Live At 6PM
From Monday 30th May, Newshub journalist and presenter Samantha Hayes will join Mike McRoberts as the co-host of TV3’s Newshub Live at 6pm.
Samantha will move from Newshub Late to early evenings next week as she begins presenting the weekday news on Newshub’s flagship television bulletin.
MediaWorks Acting Chief News Officer, Richard Sutherland, says: “Samantha brings a wealth of experience across news and current affairs. Her considerable presenting talent and own unique style means she will be a fantastic co-host with Mike McRoberts weeknights at 6 o’clock.”
“The pair’s skill set ensures we will provide a professional, experienced news team that New Zealanders trust, building on the notable success of Newshub and our 6pm bulletin since its launch in February.”
“Having worked with Samantha for a number of years, I’ve seen her break some of our biggest stories, lead investigations, and provide our audience with the news they want. She is a true master of her craft, covering the full spectrum of news – from hard hitting current affairs as a presenter and reporter, to the lighter side whilst anchoring Nightline.”
Newshub Presenter, Samantha Hayes, says: “Hilary is leaving considerably big shoes to fill and I’m honoured to build on the trust she has helped create with Newshub. I’ve been working with TV3 since I was 17 years old in many different roles, and now I’m looking forward to joining Mike, and bringing New Zealanders the news each night supported by the strength of the Newshub team.”
Samantha will continue to report on leading stories and issues.
Samantha Hayes has worked as a journalist and presenter for MediaWorks News & Current Affairs division since 2006, most recently as host of Newshub Late. Samantha is well known to TV3 viewers as a former Nightline and 3D presenter, and for her work as a journalist for 3News, which included covering Arts and Entertainment, the environment, and a term as the 3NewsAustralian Correspondent.
