A Gift of Arts And Culture to the Future of Auckland

A Gift of Arts And Culture to the Future of Auckland

Auckland Live Presents
PICK & MIX

Following a record-breaking season in 2015, Auckland Live returns with the winter season of Pick & Mix - a FREE series of weekend performances and workshops showcasing the funniest, bendy-est and most artistically excellent performers this side of the Tasman Sea. This year, for the first time ever, the programme is on offer at Mangere Arts Centre as well as the North Shore’s Bruce Mason Centre and Aotea Centre & Auckland Town Hall from 18 June to 4 September*.

A captivating line up of high profile artists provide this year’s ‘taster’ performances, intended to inspire and excite the young and young-at-heart. Pick & Mix offers families the rare treat of experiencing some of the biggest names in Kiwi arts and culture, including NZ Opera, NZ Dance Company, The Royal NZ Ballet, Touch Compass andStrike Percussion.

Children can also immerse themselves in the arts by learning the secrets of magic with comedy star Jarred Fell, clowning around with White Face Crew, and watching fairytales come to life with Flaxworks. Let the littlies try their hand at creating mind-bending music with Orchestra of Spheres, increase their confidence by learning improv with The Improv Bandits, and expand their Te Reo Maori and storytelling with Te Rēhia Theatre.

With 27 performances over 12 weeks in three Auckland locations, audiences have the opportunity to Pick & Mix – picking different locations on different days to experience the different artists that take their fancy. Each FREE 45-minute ‘taster’ performance is followed by a FREE 45-minute interactive workshop. No bookings are required and there is no allocated seating so participants can come and go as they please.

In 2015 Pick & Mix was offered for the first time to North Shore City at the Bruce Mason Centre. This was so successful that in 2016 the programme will extend to the Mangere Arts Centre giving more Aucklanders the chance to explore, play and try out new things in the arts. Auckland Live brings arts and culture alive in Auckland, connecting artists and audiences at memorable live shows performed at some of the city’s most iconic venues.

Experience all that the Auckland arts and culture scene has to offer for FREE.
