About the show
From the arrival of Captain Cook in 1769 through to protecting trade routes against piracy around the Horn of Africa in 2015,
The Complete History of the Royal New Zealand Navy navigates it way around the world’s oceans through song, satire and silliness.
Don’t expect a history lesson but don’t be surprised if you learn something.
The theatrical and comedic talents of Gregory Cooper and Mark Hadlow, who together devised the uproariously funny MAMIL (Middle Aged Men in Lycra), have been at work again.
Who else could be charged with bringing to life The Complete History of the Royal New Zealand Navy, who else would dare!
This fast paced naval romp through the decades was penned by Cooper who also performs in the show and is directed by Hadlow.
Both exercise respect and sensitivity when called for, but indulge their madcap humour at every opportunity.
On a national tour, the show is part of Operation Neptune 75th Anniversary of the RNZN.
The festival is delighted to bring this rollicking performance to the War Memorial Theatre and invite you on board.
Hold on to your senses it’s going to be one choppy ride!
