Samsung partners with New Zealand Olympians

Samsung partners with New Zealand Olympians Blair Tuke and Peter Burling

Auckland, New Zealand – 11th July, 2016 – Samsung, the official smartphone partner of the New Zealand Olympic team, today announced a partnership with Olympic sailors Peter Burling and Blair Tuke. The two sailors, who will compete for gold in the 49er class sailing at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will become brand ambassadors for Samsung’s water resistant Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones.

“Blair and Peter were natural choices as the athletes to represent our Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Our Galaxy smartphones push the boundaries of what’s possible in technology, and that perseverance and excellence is matched in Blair and Peter’s dedication and performance in sailing,” says Mike Cornwell, Marketing Director for Samsung New Zealand.

“We’ve got some really exciting content coming out of the partnership that will be enabled by the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and we think kiwis are going to love how we’ve managed to recreate the exhilaration of competing out in the ocean from the perspective of the sailors,” Cornwell continued.

“We’re really excited to team up with Samsung ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The Galaxy S7 is the perfect phone for us - on a 49er you’re really close to the water, so the fact that the Samsung smartphone is water resistant is a big bonus for us,” says Blair Tuke.

To celebrate the partnership, Samsung will open a Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge sailing experience to the public ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Christchurch and Auckland at the following locations;
