Rotary Club of Auckland
presents
World Press Photo Exhibition
Open now until
24 July 2016, Auckland
Time is running out for Aucklanders to experience the eye-opening World Press Photo Exhibition. Hosted in the historic ballroom space of Smith and Caughey’s on Queen St, the arresting images are complemented by captions outlining the fascinating stories behind them.
Staying open well after 5pm every night of the week, the gallery makes an excellent post work outing or mid-winter activity (6.30pm Mon-Wed, 9pm Thu-Fri, 6.30pm Sat, and 6pmSun). This year’s display has received admirable feedback from attendees calling it “powerful” and “intense, but eye-opening”. Along with hard issues audiences note that there is “always something to put a smile on your face too”.
From creatures gracing the world’s rainforests, to citizens on the front lines of conflict plus the current refugee crisis in Europe that’s got everyone talking, the best press images from 2015 will connect you with the far reaches of the globe. Picked from over 82,000 entries these photographs represent the most skilled storytellers capturing the most precise moments in time.
All proceeds
will be given to the Rotary Club of Auckland, whose
fundraising efforts support charities in NZ and throughout
the world in areas of healthcare, education, nutrition and
shelter. www.aucklandrotary.org.nz
