Shakes - Strange Tides

Shakes - Strange Tides

The new Kiwi indie-rockers on the block Shakes are proud to release their latest single, Strange Tides out today!

Strange Tides was inspired by the tide itself, with the hypnotic crashing of waves around the Raglan coastline acting as inspiration for the concept of the song, and influencing the chorus and main riff of the track.

Initially written on a cheap toy keyboard on a visit to Manu Bay, Strange Tides was finished off in band member Alex Wildwood’s home studio. The track was mixed by Steven Schram (San Cisco, Paul Kelly, and Tiny Little Houses) and mastered by Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, and The Shins).

Fusing together their trademark grungy bass with humming guitars, Strange Tides tells the story of a relationship you just can't get enough of, despite it beginning to go south.

Strange Tides is the first single and title track from Shakes’ highly anticipated second EP which is due for release this year – stay tuned for more info coming soon...
