GOING GLOBAL 2016 - CONFIRMED SPEAKERS

Looking to take your music offshore? Independent Music NZ, the NZ Music Commission and ATEED are very pleased to announce who will be joining us this year for the GOING GLOBAL MUSIC SUMMIT 2016.

On Friday 2 and Saturday 3 September, Going Global will be taking over The Orange on Newton Road – also known as the legendary Orange Coronation Ballroom – for two days of panels, master-classes and
presentations for people who are interested in working in the international music market.

Come and hear from people who are working with both new and established artists on the global stage.

The GOING GLOBAL MUSIC SUMMIT is proud to reveal our exceptional international speakers for 2016:

Colin Daniels – CEO, Inertia Group (AUSTRALIA) – KEYNOTE SPEAKER
CEO of the Inertia Group of companies, an independent music family including leading Australian full-service music company Inertia, live music promoter Handsome Tours, publisher GaGa Music, management company IE:Inertia. Colin Daniels is also the co-director of Fairgrounds festival with Inertia founder Ashley Sellers.

Anna Laverty – Producer, Engineer, Audio Mixer (AUSTRALIA)
A producer whose creative and technical prowess has been called upon by the likes of Courtney Barnett and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Anna also tours the nation as a Songmakers mentor for APRA educating writers in the craft of songwriting and production.
Brett Murrihy – Head of Asia Pacific, WME Music (AUSTRALIA)
Brett Murrihy is Head of Music Asia Pacific for WME and one of the region’s leading Booking Agents, Murrihy founded his own agency in 2010 and was acquired by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment in 2015.

Dana Erickson – Partner, Grandstand Media & Management (USA)
It all started with Pearl Jam then Epic Records, moving on to 2:30 Publicity before a merger which was the start of Grandstand Media & Management, US publicity representatives for some of the best talent in indie music.
Dick Huey – Founder / Consultant, Toolshed Digital Media Strategy (USA)
The founder of digital media marketing and consulting powerhouse Toolshed whose clients include Merge Records & Touch and Go, Dick, is behind the orchestration of over 350 digital campaigns throughout his career. A new media pioneer, Dick launched the New Media department at the Beggars Group in 1997, licensed the Group’s groundbreaking digital catalog, and set the Group’s strategic direction. Dick licenses independent music catalogs on behalf of Spotify in the United States and is a founding new media committee member for the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM), and a board member representing Matador Records at Soundexchange.
Jackie Shuman – Music Supervisor, Good Ear Music Supervision (USA)
Previously Head of Sync at Crush Management Jackie uses her music discovery skills at Good Ear Music Supervision, a company known for their award-winning work with Apple, Google, Samsung, Nike, Twitter, Spotify.
Jessica Strassman – A&R Manager, Columbia Records / StarTime International (USA)
Based in NYC, Jessica works with a wide variety of artists, including Lewis Del Mar, Natalie Prass, and COIN. Prior to joining StarTime International & Columbia Records, Jessica worked in international concert booking at CAA.
Jim Pitt – Music Segment Producer, Conan (USA)
For 25 years Jim Pitt has booked music guests for US late night TV shows. At Saturday Night Live he had highs (network TV debut of Nirvana) and lows (Sinead O'Connor tearing up a picture of the Pope). Since Conan's premiere in 1993 (first guest: Radiohead), Jim has booked thousands of artists including TV debuts of Coldplay, Green Day, The Black Keys…New Zealand artists have included Crowded House, Flight of the Conchords, Straitjacket Fits, The Datsuns, Marlon Williams and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
Joe Alexander – Owner / Founder, Bedroom Suck Records (AUSTRALIA)
Joe’s label Bedroom Suck Records, is an independent record label aimed at fostering creative activity and building strong music communities. The label is firmly rooted in the Melbourne music community, and has come to include management and booking services for many of his artists.
Kristen Ng – Venue Booker / Tour Manager / Blogger, Kiwese.co.nz (CHINA)
Having started the multimedia blog Kiwese (www.kiwese.co.nz) in order to promote independent music between China and Aotearoa, Kristen has recently booked venues for Die!Die!Die!, handles event & promotions for NU SPACE & NUART FESTIVAL & previously tour managed Orchestra of Spheres amongst others as well a being a part of Chengdu electronic music collective ‘atmen’ - Kristen has it covered.
Nikita Lavrinenko – Founder / Agent, Paper & Iron Booking Co. (GERMANY)
After gathering experience in a variety of independent businesses such as a label, distribution, a record store, concert promotion and as a touring musician, Nikita Lavrinenko has co-founded Paper and Iron Booking Co, the European agency currently looks after the live performances of artists such as Ryley Walker, Jenny Hval, and New Zealand’s own Nadia Reid.
Richard Moffat – Music Booker, Falls Festival & Groovin’ The Moo (AUSTRALIA)
Rich has booked everything in Australia, from Melbourne’s top pubs and clubs, through to booking and programming festivals, which include: St Kilda Festival, Queenscliff, Falls Festival, Southbound, Pushover, Groovin’ the Moo, Parklife, West Coast Blues & Roots, Northwest Festival, Splendour and The Plot. Rich has booked early tours for the White Stripes, Blink-182, QOTSA and Beck at venues, including the first ever Australian show by The Pixies!
Tim Price – Partner / Head Publicist, Collision Course (AUSTRALIA)
Things that take up Tim Price's brainspace and time: Australian heavy / alternative / oz prog music mid-90s to now and perhaps at times over zealously spruiking them; an encyclopedic knowledge of Star Wars, James Bond movies, DC comic books, cartoons and TV shows; hitting up and putting on shows; hanging with his wife; drinking good coffee and beer / bourbon; and getting good barbershop haircuts. Says it all. Kia Ora Tim!
Tom Larkin – Founder / Owner, SIGNAL Agency Group / Homesurgery MGMT (AUSTRALIA)
Tom is the founder of the SIGNAL Agency Group, an artist development collective that comprises hi-end recording studios, (The Studios In The City) an artist management company (Homesurgery) and the newly minted SIGNAL Artist Development Accelerator Program...not forgetting also being the powerhouse drummer of Shihad.
Tom Wironen – Manager, Post Hoc Management (USA)
Having worked in Music Management for nearly a decade with artists such as The National and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Tom also helped produce MusicNOW Festival, Crossing Brooklyn Ferry, and Sounds of the South at Vivid Festival, and project managed 'Day of the Dead' - a 59 track Grateful Dead tribute compilation benefiting the Red Hot Organization.
Zac Ives – Co-Owner, Goner Records / Gonerfest (USA)
As co-owner of Goner Records, an independent record label and shop based in Memphis, Zac has released well over 100 records, including albums by Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Ty Segall, Jay Reatard, Quintron and Toy Love. He also co-founded and curates the annual independent music festival, Gonerfest. Every September, Goner bring bands and music fans from all over the world to Memphis for three days of wild rock & roll abandon in small venues around town.

Going Global Music Summit 2016 provides musicians, producers, composers, labels, promoters, industry professionals and fans a chance to perform, discuss, learn, teach, and interact in front of an audience of like-minded peers in an environment that encourages the global exchange of ideas, techniques and trends.

In 2016 Going Global Music Summit will present a schedule of live music alongside a daytime program of panels, presentations, workshops and discussions. The focus is on new music and as such the live music showcases aim to reflect originality in contemporary live music practice.
