Says Greg from his home
in Los Angeles:
“I wanted to be the first Kiwi singer-songwriter to do the classic album live idea. Here Comes The Caviar is an album with many of my best known radio songs that also translate really well live, plus it went Gold in NZ so it’s a good place to start with that idea.
“We’ll play it in order from start to end, only stopping for a slug of vino and perhaps a touch of reminiscing with Ted, before ending the night with some more crowd favourites".
“The album was recorded 2004 in California at a big old classic studio in Silverlake, with producer Clark Stiles and various musicians guesting including Rami Jaffee (Wallflowers, Foo-Fighters) and Jeff Young (Sting, Jackson Browne, Steely Dan).”
The lead single Save Yourself generated airplay right across the United States, breaking first out of Boston. Greg and longtime band mate Ted Brown rode the hype with a series of promo tours to radio and colleges around the US. The song also spent months in the NZ Top 40 becoming one of the most played NZ songs of the era.
Joining the California-based Johnson and Brown are longtime NZ-based bandmates Wayne Bell (drums) and Mark Hughes (bass).
