Let’s get behind Wellington for the Rockquest finals

Let’s get behind Wellington for the Smokefree Rockquest finals!

Local musicians Retrospect, from Onslow College, recently won the bands category of the Smokefree Rockquest Wellington Regional Final. All who placed had the opportunity to submit a 15-minute video of original songs for a chance to progress to the National Final next month.

Retrospect was the only Wellington video entry to make it into the top 20 bands, but only 6 of these can earn a spot in the final. Five places have already been allocated and only the People’s Choice entry remains to be decided. They’re all set to pay their own way to Auckland to perform - all they need now is Wellington's support to earn them this spot.

“We’ve enjoyed the competition so much, and really want the chance to represent Wellington in the finals. But we need Wellingtonians to get us over the line by voting for us in the People’s Choice category. We’re hoping plenty of people will understand how significant this competition is within the school music scene, and be willing to support us”, says Anna van Gorp, one of the band’s two vocalists.

The group is currently running a close second to a South Island band from Golden Bay. To help secure their place in the finals, you can text retrospect to 8466 before 2pm Monday 22 August. The more votes they receive, the better their chances of getting through, so let’s get behind Retrospect and do Wellington proud!
