HP48Minutes filmmaking competition

The Universe's Most Valuable Commodity up for Grabs for Kiwi Creatives

Organisers have labelled it as the most creative weekend in New Zealand and they’ve got the proof to back up the claim. The HP48HOURS filmmaking competition which boasts Sir Peter Jackson as it’s Wildcard Judge and long-standing patron manages to ignite 10,000 kiwis to create something magical during one weekend.

This year though organiser Ant Timpson has created a pre-competition event called HP48Minutes that is open to everyone in New Zealand. If you think the idea of creating an entire short film over a weekend is bonkers then how about just having 48 minutes! Head honcho Timpson agrees,

“Oh I know this idea is insane and I’m sure anyone over 25-years old thinks this idea is simply more ammo for the argument about dwindling attention-spans and death of story-telling. Well you can call this a direct response to the bloated spandex epics that clog movie screens. Viva la micro-movie!”

On Sat Sept 3rd the super fast mini-comp HP48Minutes is happening and it is free and open to anyone. Timpson says the only requirements are “a cool head, a quick mind and a hot idea”.

That’s just 48 minutes to create a 48 second micro-movie.

The winner will walk away not only with an incredible specced up HP Omen gaming laptop valued at over $2000 but the Holy Grail as well. For the first time ever since 2003 organisers are giving away the one thing they said they would never do – TIME itself.
The winner gets an extra forty-eight precious minutes on the 48Hours shoot weekend.
