NZ Fantasy Short Launches on U.S. Content Platform REVRY

PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AMBLIN-INSPIRED FANTASY SHORT ‘BROKEN GLASS’ LAUNCHES EXCLUSIVELY ON REVRY

3 October 2016: Seriously Entertainment’s New Zealand made fantasy short Broken Glass launches on LA-based LGBTQ content platform REVRY as an exclusive. Written and Directed by Chaz Harris, the film was a featured title in the Family & Kids section on Vimeo OnDemand. REVRY picked up the film due to its distinctly Amblin vibe and the success of Netflix series Stranger Things.

Broken Glass is a family fantasy short about 12 year old Max Petersen who is being bullied at school and has an abusive father at home. Escaping to his fort in the woods one day, Max encounters a mysterious creature that soon changes his life forever.

When asked about the inspiration for the film, Harris said: “This film was originally inspired by the J.J. Abrams film Super 8 which Paramount NZ allowed us to screen at our world premiere. I loved Stranger Things, so it’s great to see others embracing the same influences and doing their own thing with it too.”

On taking the film beyond an online audience, Harris said: “I originally imagined this film might be shown in schools to tackle teen bullying which I experienced myself as an LGBT teen growing up. This short is an origin story for a family fantasy feature I’ve written called The Glassmaker that explores the same themes in more detail. The story of Broken Glass demonstrates in metaphorical terms that sometimes bullies do just as much harm to themselves as they do to others. We’re looking at ways we might be able to extend the film’s reach and I look forward to working with REVRY to achieve that going forward”
