Short+Sweet Wellington 2016 Programme Announced
10 minutes to make a statement, 10 minutes to connect, 10 minutes with Short+Sweet Festival Wellington.
Short+Sweet Festival returns to Wellington with its unique 10 minute performance format showcasing bite sized theatre works. Up to ten 10 minute pieces take to The Propeller Stage at BATS Theatre from 19 – 22 October.
The eclectic brainchild originally out of Sydney’s performing arts scene has catapulted to great success with satellite city festivals across the world, including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Philippines, UAE and USA.
The Festival has been running every year in Auckland since 2009, and after much success in presenting hundreds of Short format dance and theatre works, Short+Sweet debuted in Wellington in 2015 as a platform for creatives to test new ideas, collaborate with others and develop their storytelling skills.
Artistic Curator and native Wellingtonian Ahi Karunaharan is excited to return to Wellington for Short+Sweet ‘s second edition: “We’re always looking at ways to make the Festival even better and we’re very keen to spread it further around New Zealand. Wellington has such a great theatre culture and we’re excited to have the opportunity to contribute further to the arts community.” With a mixture of independent theatre companies presenting new works and emerging directors collaborating with writers who have submitted their scripts to Short+Sweet, this year’s programme promises a smorgasbord of new and original theatre shows ranging from the comedic and quirky to the dramatic and experimental.
Tickets are now available from BATS Theatre’s website.
