Artmaking and circus workshops, an exhibition
of afford artwork, film and live performance, bouncy castle
and giant games, and face painting are among the activities
at Māpura Studios gala Open Day on Saturday 15th October,
10.00am – 2.00pm, at Māpura Studios, Fowlds Park, Rocky
Nook Ave, St Lukes, Auckland1022
Māpura Studios’ annual Open Day exhibition showcases work from all artists and classes, celebrating the ability and diversity of the studio community. Almost 200 children, teens and adults, inclusive of those with diverse and often complex disabilities attend classes at Māpura Studios.
Have a go with artmaking workshops in the studio and run away with the circus (on the lawn) in an interactive workshop led by Thomas Hinz from community circus Circability. Try spinning plates, juggling, poi, diablo, hula hoop and more.
A bouncy castle and giant games, face painting, and Boccia are all on offer, and you can relax and be entertained by film and live performance – or join in and perform yourself on the blackboard stage. Socialize and enjoy food from the café and sausage sizzle.
Affordable artwork and merchandise with Māpura Studios’ own students’ designs is for sale.
With no direct government funding, Māpura Studios relies on the support of funders and donors to provide its programmes. These include innovative art and art therapy classes for children, teens and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Autism, intellectual disability, deafness or Stroke affect, and neuro-typical.
The charitable organisation seeks to build sustaining relationships with the local community, acknowledge the generosity of their supporters, and put the FUN back into FUNdraising.
Help Māpura Studios champion the inclusion of people with disability and diversity and grow a healthy, creative Auckland community.
