Another New Zealander goes for WBA Oceania Title
New Zealander Gentiane Lupi, will be going for the vacant WBA Oceania Super Featherweight Title on November 12th in Singapore. Lupi is the third New Zealander this year that is going for the WBA Oceania title.

The first two was Australian-New Zealander Solomon Haumono, winning the Interim WBA Oceania Heavyweight title against Argentinian boxer, Manuel Alberto Pucheta in April this year. The other boxer was American-New Zealander Julius Long, winning also the Interim WBA Oceania Heavyweight title against Tongan-Australian boxer, Bowie Tupou last week.

40 year old Wellingtonian Gentiane Lupi, is a jack of all trades. She is an actress, a stuntwomen, MMA Fighter, Muay Thai & Kickboxer and Boxer. She holds over 8 Kickboxing/Muay Thai titles and is a former WIBA World Super Bantamweight champion.

Lupi’s biggest fight of her career was against American Ronica Jeffrey for WBC Silver title in Auckland last April. Her biggest win of her career was defeating the first ever IBF Women’s World Champion, New Zealander Daniella Smith. Lupi defeated Smith twice in her career, both times in 2014.

Lupi’s opponent is 28 year old Singaporean, Nurshahidah Roslie. Roslie is undefeated boxer who currently holds the UBO Inter­Continental female super featherweight title. Roslie has had four fights in her career so far with all the fights being either against debutants or 0 - 1 - 0 boxers. This will be the biggest fight of Roslie career going against a person who has has 30 fights.

Lupi’s current fight record is 4 - 3 - 1 in boxing, 18 - 3 - 0 in kickboxing and 1 - 1 - 0 in MMA, which is a total of 23 - 7 - 1. Lupi also has a big challenge with this fight as she has never won a fight outside of New Zealand.

If she does win the fight she will not only get a WBA top 15 ranking but also hold the same title that other New Zealanders have hold including Joseph Parker, Michelle Preston, Julius long and Solomon Haumono. There has only a couple of NZ’s who has failed in their attempts to capture the WBA Oceania title including Reece Papuni (vs. Trent Broadhurst) and Kali Meehan (vs. Joseph Parker).
