Aces unchanged for Volts

Aces unchanged for Volts

The Auckland Aces are home and looking to bounce back against the Otago Volts at Eden Park Outer Oval in their second round Plunket Shield fixture starting Saturday.

Coach Mark O’Donnell has shown faith in the squad he selected last week, naming an unchanged twelve for tomorrow’s match.

“For us it’s a new game, we played well in patches against Wellington, we just didn’t do it for long enough periods,” says O’Donnell.

“I believe [Neil] Wagner is playing so that will be something slightly different. We’ve talked about his method of attack with the old ball so now we just need to deal with it,” he says.

Aces all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme knows Auckland will need to be on their game against the southerners.

“Otago are a quality side as they proved against CD, they have good batsmen who can score big so we need to be on our game and put them under pressure from the start,” says de Grandhomme.

“It’s great to be back home here at Eden Park, it’s always a good cricket wicket so we are pumped to get out there and take on the Volts,” he says.

The first ball is due to be bowled at 10:30am at Eden Park Outer Oval.

Auckland Aces
Cody Andrews, Brad Cachopa, Colin De Grandhomme, Lachlan Ferguson, Donovan Grobbelaar, Michael Guptill-Bunce, Shawn Hicks, Dane Hutchinson, Tarun Nethula, Rob Nicol ©, Robert O’Donnell, Jeet Raval.
