Cricket Wellington announce the return of Jade Dernbach
Cricket Wellington are pleased to announce that England and Surrey fast-bowler, Jade Dernbach, will be returning to Wellington this summer.
Dernbach featured for the Wellington Firebirds in the 2015-16 Super Smash competition and Head Coach, Bruce Edgar, is excited at the prospect of having the Englishman back in the squad:
“Jade added a lot to our team last season and we think he’ll complement our squad again this year. To have a player of his skill and experience involved is a massive boost for our campaign, on and off the field.”
Cricket Wellington Chief Executive, Peter Clinton, was equally pleased to secure the specialist services of Dernbach, especially with the extended home T20 season featuring the Basin Blast:
“Jade’s availability for the full campaign means he’ll also be available to play in the Basin Blast against the Melbourne Stars, adding further top-level talent into an already exciting line-up for the day.”
Jade Dernbach is a veteran of 34 T20Is and 24 ODIs for England and brings a wealth of County experience with Surrey. Dernbach played four games for the Firebirds in last season’s Super Smash T20 competition, claiming 7 wickets at an average of 15.42. This year he will join the team for the entire McDonald’s Super Smash.
