Kaikoura Kids' Christmas

Media release – Otago Polytechnic

For immediate release, Date, 2016

Otago Polytechnic is feeling the love for Kaikoura this Christmas! The Food Design Institute students have just donated $1277 to the Kaikoura Cheese Factory, and the first instalment of Christmas gifts is about to head on its way for the children of Kaikoura.

The School of Social Services is running ‘Arohanui from Otago’ – they’re collecting Christmas gifts from Otago residents for the children of Kaikoura.

The public have dropped off several hundred beautifully wrapped Christmas gifts, and NZ Post is coming this afternoon to pick up what’s been delivered so far.

The boxes will be delivered to Casebrook Intermediate by Saturday, then delivered to Kaikoura on Monday in time for a community Christmas Party.

Casebrook Intermediate is running a similar project, so the two education providers decided they’d combine to give the children of Kaikoura a Christmas worth remembering, after an awful few weeks of earthquakes.

‘Arohanui from Otago’ ends on Friday, in order to get the gifts to Kaikoura on time.
