Ronald McDonald House Charities keeps
families close this Christmas
New Zealanders are being asked to help keep families close this Christmas by making a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities© (RMHC©) at McDonald’s restaurants nationwide.
Customers can donate $1 for a Christmas gift tag at their local restaurant, with all money raised going to help RMHC keep families close this Christmas. Coca-Cola will also donate 20c for every labelled bottle of 600ml Kiwi Blue water sold in the restaurants.
The fundraising campaign runs until 10th January 2017.
The mission of RMHC is to keep families close throughout their children’s medical journey - a cause McDonald’s has been supporting since the charity’s establishment in 1989.
Around 420 families will call Ronald McDonald House ‘home’ during the festive season, like the Cooke family from Porirua who spent Christmas at Ronald McDonald House Auckland last year.
Upon discovering that their daughter, Lily, required treatment at the National Children’s Hospital in Auckland, the Cookes were worried, not knowing how they were going to keep their family together. Being able to stay at Ronald McDonald House “took a lot of weight off our shoulders; we had a safe place to stay close to the hospital that we didn’t need to pay for” said parents Julia and Russell.
The Cooke family celebrated Christmas at Ronald McDonald House and Julia says they were absolutely blown away by the number of staff and volunteers who came in to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for all the families. “The atmosphere in the House was great, they made everyone feel special, not only the patients but the siblings and parents, too.”
You can help RMHC to keep New Zealand’s families close this Christmas by supporting the fundraising initiative at your local McDonald’s restaurant or by donating directly atwww.rmhc.org.nz/donate
