Priority Albums

Kehlani – ‘SweetSexySavage’

Out January 27 on DD/CD

KEHLANI embodies the title of her debut album SWEETSEXYSAVAGE, and breathes life into those three words, as they represent a moment of self-actualization. “SWEETSEXYSAVAGE came to me on a beach in Hawaii. I realized that’s what women are. We can hurt. We can also be hurt. We can go as hard as we can go soft. We can be as crazy as we can be sympathetic. We’re all of the above.” SWEETSEXYSAVAGE sees KEHLANI naturally sharing herself, her emotions, and truth. “When people hear SWEETSEXYSAVAGE, I want them to dance, have fun, and enjoy it. That’s the vibe.”

Vant – ‘Dumb Blood’

Out February 17 on DD

Pulsating with fiery punk rock and visceral alt-rock, DUMB BLOOD is an album that incites moshpit bedlam. Their lyrics, however, demand discussion – on Syria, environmentalism, sexual assault, inequality, racism, religion, social media isolation, and the all-out self-destruction of mankind. It’s a stance that’s emphasised throughout the album. VANT’s accomplishments to date have encompassed powerful sets at festivals including Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds and Bestival; live shows as far afield as Japan and Norway; and shows with bands as varied as Royal Blood, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Hinds, Nothing But Thieves and FIDLAR.

Busby Marou – ‘Postcards From The Shell House’ Out February 17on CD

Busby Marou, aka Thomas Busby & Jeremy Marou, have announced the release of their third studio album, featuring the first single ‘Getaway Car’. POSTCARDS FROM THE SHELL HOUSE was recorded over the last 18 months at The Stables studios in Gisbourne, VIC as well as during sessions on a boat. The shell house in question, an old heritage-listed building on Great Keppel Island off the coast of their native Rockhampton, has great significance. Early in their career Tom and Jeremy would sit around a campfire there and sing songs, one or two of which ended up on record. Last year, with producer Jon Hume (Evermore) in tow, that same method in the same location produced a few songs for the new album.

Rhiannon Giddens – ‘Freedom Highway’ Out February 24 on DD

FREEDOM HIGHWAY is Grammy Award–winner and 2017 Grammy nominee Rhiannon Giddens’ follow-up to her highly praised debut album TOMORROW IS MY TURN. The record includes nine original songs Giddens wrote or co-wrote while she and her band toured after TOMORROW IS MY TURN’S 2015 release, along with a traditional song and two civil rights-era songs, ‘Birmingham Sunday' and Staple Singers’ well-known ‘Freedom Highway,’ from which the album takes its name.
