JIM GAFFIGAN NZ debut

JIM GAFFIGAN

GRAMMY NOMINATED, MULTI-PLATINUM-SELLING, TOP TOURING COMEDIAN, ACTOR & TWO TIMES NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR RETURNS IN AUGUST FOR HIS BIGGEST AUSTRALIAN STAND-UP TOUR TO DATE + DEBUT NEW ZEALAND SHOWS

Frontier Comedy are thrilled to announce that Jim Gaffigan (The Jim Gaffigan Show, Flight of the Conchords, Portlandia, Bored to Death) will perform his biggest ever Australian stand-up tour this August, playing shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, followed by debut New Zealand shows in Auckland and Wellington.

‘Gaffigan has become one of the best in the business at stitching together a solid set. Jokes fly every three or four seconds, some barely finished before he moves on to the next setup.’ - The AV Club (US)

Gaffigan is a Grammy-nominated comedian, actor, writer, producer, two times New York Times best-selling author, top touring performer, and multi-platinum-selling father of five, known around the world for his unique brand of clean, family-friendly humour.

With sold out live shows at some of the biggest venues on the planet and iconic film and TV roles including his critically acclaimed sitcom The Jim Gaffigan Show, Gaffigan is one of the most familiar faces in comedy in the world today. Last in Australia in 2014 for the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival at the Sydney Opera House, this will be the first time fans in Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland and Wellington can see Jim live.

‘An assured, accomplished comic, America’s Jim Gaffigan can be relied upon to engage any audience with his smart, no-nonsense routines.’ - Chortle (UK)

‘Gaffigan is profoundly gifted at seizing the audience’s attention and holding onto it, joke after joke after joke.’ - The AV Club (US)

A giant in the world of comedy, Jim is one of only ten comics in history to sell out New York City’s Madison Square Garden, and has performed for Pope Francis and over a million people at Philadelphia’s Festival of Families. Gaffigan is also the most popular comic on global streaming site Pandora with over 647 million spins to date amongst their users. Gaffigan has also appeared on all three versions of Law & Order (Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent).

Much like his self-titled, semi-fictitious sitcom, which was praised by The Los Angeles Times as ‘fun and funny’, and People Magazine as ‘one of summer TV’s bright spots’, Gaffigan’s classically observational stand-up largely revolves around one man’s struggle to balance fatherhood, stand-up comedy and an insatiable appetite (for food!). Gaffigan and his wife Jeannie also wrote, produced and starred in the critically acclaimed, single-camera television show for two seasons.

In 2013, Jim’s first book Dad Is Fat was released by Crown Publishing and debuted at #5 on The New York Times Best Sellers List and remained on the list for 17 weeks. His second book Food: A Love Story was released in 2014 and debuted at #3 on The New York Times Best Sellers List.

‘One of our most intelligent observational humourists.’ - The AV Club (US)

‘An expert craftsman...Gaffigan's true genius lies in his ability to appeal to large numbers of people from all ages and social scenes. He is the rare kind of comedian who is enjoyed by pretty much everyone. He is dirty and family-friendly, original and familiar, cuddly and disturbing. He's offbeat enough to appeal to underground fans of alternative comedy and clean as a whistle for the Leno crowd.’ - Comedy Couch (CA)

This January, Gaffigan premiered his fifth one hour stand up special Cinco on Netflix. In an unprecedented deal, Netflix also purchased the exclusive rights to Gaffigan’s four other specials Beyond the Pale (2006), King Baby (2009), Mr. Universe (2012) and Obsessed (2014). Obsessed premiered at #1 on iTunes which marked the fifth time Gaffigan reached the Top 25 Comedy Category on iTunes. The album also earned a nomination for ‘Best Comedy Album of the Year’ at the 2015 Grammy Awards.

‘Keeping up with Gaffigan’s observations and often sly humor could be a little dizzying for an audience that was constantly trying to catch its breath from laughing...it’s rare that a stand-up can do a full hour of material and never see a lull in the laughter. Gaffigan can.’ - Borgota Blog (US)

On the big screen Gaffigan has starred in Three Kings, Hot Pursuit, and 17 Again. 2017 is set to be big for Gaffigan with six movies set to premiere this year; The Bleeder alongside Naomi Watts, Ron Perlman and Elisabeth Moss, Drunk Parents alongside Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek, The Guardian Brother with Meryl Steep, Nicole Kidman and Ed Norton, Chappaquiddick with Ed Helms, Bruce Dern and Kate Mara, and the leading role in animated film Duck Duck Goose.

Don’t miss your chance to catch Jim Gaffigan’ largest Australian tour to date and debut New Zealand shows this August!
