Festival touring programme and Rima Te Wiata speaks at cocktail party fundraiser

The Festival of Colour has its home very much in Wanaka but our touring programme reaches out to the communities of the Southern Lakes taking some of our finest shows to the community halls around the district.

This year we take Annabel Wilson’s brand new play No Science to Goodbye to Glenorchy. The mountain landscape of the Southern Lakes looms large in this brand-new play in which music and poetry underscore a trio of unravelling lives. An additional session had to be added to the Wanaka season, both of which have now sold out; so catch this in Glenorchy on Friday 7 April. More information and tickets here.

Each member of Ensemble Paladino is a soloist in their own right, and the knitting together of their talents has made Ensemble Paladino a remarkable chamber music group, Martin Rummel has been called the most distinguished Viennese cellist of today - read this Q&A with him.

Ensemble Paladino appear at the Festival of Colour as part of a national tour presented in association with Chamber Music New Zealand. They will play a delightful lunchtime Mozart concert at Bannockburn Hall on Wednesday 5 April and open the Central Lakes Trust Crystal Palace with a lunchtime concert focusing on Bach on Tuesday 4 April. Fundraiser guest speaker announced

We are pleased to confirm that Rima Te Wiata will be guest speaker at our Cocktail Party Fundraiser on March 27th speaking with Wanaka's very own film buff and popular QLDC councillor Calum Macleod. Rima is well known for her many TV and movie roles, most recently in 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople'. Get your tickets for this great night out now!

The second Pecha Kucha night is to be held at Rippon Hall on Tuesday 14 March. Tickets available here.

And Fortune Theatre are touring My Dad’s Boy by award winning 20 something playwright Finnius Teppett. Peter used to play for Otago and in 1985 despite a loss to the Lions in the House of Pain he came close to joining David Kirk’s All Blacks. Honest! Life hasn’t really been as simple since. His son is a chip off the old block in a 2017 kind of way. While he’s writing this play about his Dad he finds out his girlfriend is pregnant. Men, their myths and realities fuel this richly honest kiwi comedy. Lake Wanaka Centre, 13 March. Tickets available here.
