UNSTITCHED finds home thanks to Urban Dream Brokerage
UNSTITCHED: Local Fashion Revolution is open to the community again this April 1st - 30th 2017, to help you revitalise your love of the clothes you wear. The pop-up project will be New Zealand's largest community event as part of the international movement Fashion Revolution. It aims to bring people together from around the world to use the power of fashion to change the story for the people who make the world’s clothes and accessories.
As a
community event, it’s not usually easy to find great
spaces, but thanks toUrban Dream Brokerage,
we have just signed the lease to revitalise the long-vacant
retail space at 23 Princes St, Dunedin. This light and
spacious site, right in the heart of Dunedin, is the perfect
shell for us to create our vibrant interactive education and
sewing centre, where the whole community can meet, share,
learn and create.
A Boost for
UNSTITCHED!
We have a few more challenges
ahead of us before we get to this goal!
We need help
to raise money to cover the costs of the project, and keep
workshops and resources accessible to all, without the
burden of high participation fees. We also need to make sure
our marketing reaches throughout the Dunedin community to
invite as many people as possible to join this fun and
empowering revolution! (Plus there are a few boring costs
like power and paint... :) )
We are incredibly
grateful that initial funding for this project has been
granted through Creative NZ’s Creative Communities grants
scheme, and through the DCC Community Grants scheme.. Now is
the chance for everyone in the community to be part of the
solution.
We are running a crowd funding campaign
through BOOSTED. This will run March
1st - 31st, with a target to reach $3,000. With 3 weeks
still to go, we have reached a fantastic 23% of our
goal.

support makes possible!
We are also interested in
hearing from any local textile artists or crafters who would
like to share their skills in traditional or innovative
textile crafts throughsmall group workshops. Any questions
or idea, you can contact us on 021 026 1142 or email justatelier@gmail.com, or contact us via

from you soon though, as our cut off for registering

March.

Together we will make a difference.
