Their Finest star Bill Nighy to visit New Zealand.
Transmission Films is delighted to announce that iconic British actor Bill Nighy will be travelling to New Zealand in April to celebrate the release of the upcoming film THEIR FINEST.
The BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor will be charming New Zealand audiences at a special event screening at Lido Cinema in Auckland on April 7th.
From the producers of Carol and Brooklyn and the director of An Education, Lone Scherfig, THEIR FINEST also stars Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin and Jeremy Irons.
“The opportunity to host an actor as beloved as Bill Nighy is an absolute privilege. Audiences are sure to be charmed by him on and off-screen,” said Transmission Films Joint Managing Directors Richard Payten and Andrew Mackie.
Nighy became a household name after starring in Richard Curtis’s 2003 ensemble comedy hit LOVE ACTUALLY. His long list of film credits include Richard Eyre’s Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominated NOTES ON A SCANDAL (2006); THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL (2011) and its 2015 sequel; Bryan Singer’s VALKYRIE (2008), with Tom Cruise; British rock comedy THE BOAT THAT ROCKED (2009). He is also unrecognisable as the tentacled pirate captain Davy Jones in Gore Verbinski’s PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN’S CHEST (2006) and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD’S END (2007), and appeared as Minister Rufus Scrimgeour in David Yates’ Academy Award and BAFTA nominated HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS - PART ONE (2010). He is a Golden Globe and two-time BAFTA award winner.
Set during the London Blitz, with the country’s morale at stake, THEIR FINEST is the story of untried screenwriter Catrin (Gemma Arterton), and a makeshift cast and crew, working under fire to make a film to lift the nation’s spirits - and inspire America to join the war. THEIR FINEST is a witty, romantic and moving portrayal of a young woman finding her way, and her voice, in the mayhem of war... and the movies.
THEIR FINEST will open in cinemas nationally on 13th April.
