Auckland Live and Auckland Symphony Orchestra present
Last Night of the Proms
Performed by Auckland
Symphony Orchestra and The Stellar Singers
Raise your glass and party like Liz at a roaring good celebration of the best of Blighty. Now in its 16th magical year, Last Night of the Proms serves up a jolly-good evening of musical fanfare at the Bruce Mason Centre on Friday 23 June and at the Auckland Town Hall on Sunday 25 June. Playing on the same weekend as the mighty All-Blacks take on the British and Irish Lions, this will be a right royal occasion to remember.
From the soaring Jerusalem and patriotic Rule Britannia to iconic Brit pop and much-loved classics, Auckland Symphony Orchestra will take you on a musical journey that will have you dropping your cuppa and singing your heart out! So, warm up your voice, start waving your Union Jack and get ready for the feel-good concert of the year.
Last Night of the Proms is conducted by Peter Thomas and features over 150 performers including organist Philip Smith, solo cellist Sarah Spence, the Stellar Singers and Milford School Dancers.
Musical director of the Auckland Symphony Orchestra, Peter Thomas, is also the Head of Music at Epsom Girls Grammar School, and a New Zealand-based composer.
“Every year I look
forward to this lively evening. It’s a fantastic feeling
for everyone on stage to see the audience joining in and
singing along to some of Britain’s most iconic music” -
Peter Thomas
