Cachopa & Lister complete Aces contract list

Wednesday 26 July 2017
Takapuna and Waitakere Cricket Clubs can lay claim to the final two Auckland Aces contracts for the 2017/18 season with Craig Cachopa and Ben Lister added to complete the 15-man Aces squad.

Cachopa returns to Auckland after a stint playing in the County Championship for Sussex while Lister is elevated to the Aces through strong club cricket performances.

“We welcome Craig back to Auckland after a stint overseas and will be looking for him to add to his impressive domestic career back here with the Aces,” says Head Coach Mark O’Donnell.

“Ben is an exciting prospect and has been on the radar for a while. Being a left-armer gives him a natural point of difference to most bowlers and we are looking forward to working with him more closely,” O’Donnell says.

Head Coach O’Donnell is also very real about how he sees the new recruits fitting in.

“Ben offers some natural pace and natural bounce, he needs a good S&C programme to set him in good stead for the season. Based on last year and BLACKCAPS’ availability we will have to rotate through our seamers so there’s an opportunity for him.”

[On Cachopa] “For Auckland he has a very good record, he’s a player with experience that counters the loss of Rob Nicol.”
