Yell & Scream, but Keep it Clean
Yell and scream but keep it clean supported by Burger King and Canterbury Rugby Union
Leading quick service restaurant brand Burger King is encouraging positive sideline behaviour with the launch of a unique campaign which is already proving popular in Canterbury.
The ‘Yell and scream but keep it clean’ initiative aims to improve sideline behaviour and highlight positive role models by engaging parents and supporters to score the opposing team on their sideline behaviour and input the details online.
James Woodbridge, General Manager – Marketing, Burger King New Zealand says the campaign is being rolled out across New Zealand communities and is already well received in Canterbury.
“Kiwi kids can be exposed to offensive language, abuse and poor behaviour from the sidelines. We’re all responsible for setting a good example both on and off the field and helping to provide a positive environment for children to enjoy the game they love,” says James.
“Burger King is proud to run this initiative and we’re excited to be working with local communities like the Canterbury Rugby Union to make this happen.”
Local Canterbury rugby clubs have quickly supported the message, using it as another tool to build a family friendly club culture. Nathan Godfrey, Canterbury Rugby CEO says spectators have an important role in making rugby a fun experience and showing good sportsmanship on the sideline.
“We are humbled that Burger King has seen the positive steps we’ve taken in launching the ‘We All Bleed Red’ campaign, and in doing so they’ve had some fun with a serious issue in our game,” says Nathan.
“The Yell and scream but keep it clean message is powerful in so many ways. We all know that New Zealanders are mad about rugby, but we also need to remember that the most important thing is that our kids have a positive experience every time they step on a rugby ground.
“We thank Burger King for the great prizes on offer, and for choosing to partner with the Canterbury Rugby Union.”
Yell and scream but keep it clean is aimed at promoting a positive sporting environment by engaging parents and supporters to score the opposing team on their sideline behaviour via http://www.burgerking.co.nz/keepitclean. Each participating team is issued with a unique login to facilitate this and there are a number of prizes up for grabs.
James adds: “This initiative encourages supporters who applaud the efforts of players and sets a great example for everyone on the field, especially children who are always watching and learning.
“We all know competition is an important part of sport and this campaign boosts a bit of competition among supporters too.”
