Cancer Society Seeks Participants for Charity Skydive

Cancer Society seeks participants for charity skydive

The Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society is seeking participants for their next fundraising initiative Jump for Cancer, a unique fundraising event in which people raise funds in return for a tandem skydive.

The event, scheduled for Sunday 5 November, is in conjunction with Skydive Taupo and organisers say they are expecting the event to take their fundraising efforts to new heights.

“Last year participants raised an impressive $28,000. This year we are giving more people the chance to jump for cancer and are hoping that we will raise even more,” says Catriona Findlay, Fundraising Manager for the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society.

Fundraisers are required to raise a minimum of $800 in exchange for a 12,000 feet tandem skydive or $1,000 in exchange for a 15,000 feet tandem skydive with one of Skydive Taupo’s professional skydiving instructors.

The skydive itself will be in one of the worlds most scenic drop zones with views of snow capped mountains and the fresh blue waters of Lake Taupo.

Ms Findlay says that the event is great for both adrenalin seekers and those who are scared of heights.

“Skydiving is on the bucket list for so many people. This is an opportunity not only to tick it off but to really make it count.

“Regardless of whether you jump for a friend, a family member, for cancer research or simply to help a stranger; your jump will have a positive impact on the 60 New Zealanders diagnosed with cancer every day,” says Ms Findlay.

If you have any questions about Jump for Cancer, please contact Catriona Findlay on 07 903 5816 or catrionafindlay@cancersociety.org.nz

What if you could make a difference for the one in three Kiwis affected by cancer with just a jump? What if you could jump for friends, family and loved ones; for cancer research and for the hope of an eventual cure?

Sign up for Jump for Cancer and you can do all of these things, plus you can jump for the thrill of it.
