Star studded 2018 Wellington Cup Barrier Draw

Star studded 2018 Wellington Cup Barrier Draw

Central city office workers will get a taste of the races tomorrow when the Wallaceville Estate Wellington Cup Barrier draw returns to Midland Park.

Media call: 12pm, with official proceedings to begin at 12.15pm
Location: Midland Park, Wellington

Hosted by TAB Media Man Mark Stafford, several Blackcaps including Tim Southee, Matt Henry and Tom Latham will play starring roles, revealing the barriers for each of the 18 horses in one of New Zealand’s most prestigious races.

A squad of Blackcaps will be attending Cup Day and help judge the fashion stakes while Captain Kane Williamson will present the Wellington Cup to the winning trainer.

Wellingtonians will also get the chance to win tickets to the Blackcaps v Pakistan ODI at the Basin Reserve on Friday plus signed Blackcaps shirts and a bat.

“The Blackcaps are on fire at the moment, bring the kids down for some free entertainment, a free feed and the chance to meet their cricketing heroes and win some great prizes,” says Wellington Racing Club CEO Alasdair Robertson.

Models will showcase the latest trends in racewear with stylist Sally-Ann Moffat giving a 101 on what to wear to this Saturday.

The first 500 attendees will receive a complimentary taste of Cup Day canapes courtesy of Sarah Searancke Catering and Wellington Racing Club.

“We’re very excited to bring the Wellington Cup barrier draw back to Midland Park. It’s a chance for those in the city to get a feel of the racing village vibe that will be at Wellington Races on Saturday,” says Robertson.
