A Right-Royal Musical Romp!
Auckland Live and
Auckland Symphony Orchestra present
Last Night of
the Proms
Dust off that Union Jack, charge your glass and prepare to sing your heart out as Auckland Symphony Orchestra is back with Last Night of The Proms delivering a riotous showcase of Brit musical gems at Bruce Mason Centre on Saturday 23 June and at the Auckland Town Hall on Sunday 24 June.
Now in its impressive 17th year running, Last Night at the Proms is an exuberant salute to Old Blighty that is on the verge of becoming a tradition as steadfast as Sunday roast dinner!
Join the roaring crowd for a night of classic Brit revelry that will be as pompous as it is rowdy. If there’s anything that will leave you craving your aunt’s signature Yorkshire pud and a jolly good cuppa, it’ll be this boisterous display that is bound to invigorate that patriotic pride nestled in your heart.
Bound to please musical tastes of all persuasion, this eclectic showcase will continue to delight audiences with a splendid display of favourite Brit musical pieces, ranging from the iconic Rule Britannia to classic tunes by Brit-pop darlings, The Beatles.
Last Night of the Proms will be conducted by the brilliant Peter Thomas and will feature more than 100 performers including bass - baritone Samson Setu, mezzo soprano Caroline Everitt and violinist Maia-Dean Martin. At just 17 years old Martin was the recipient of a Dame Malvina Major Foundation Arts Excellence award at the tender age of 15.
Peter Thomas will bring his broad expertise as musical director of the Auckland Symphony Orchestra to the show, along with 16 years of valuable experience as Head of Music at Epsom Girls Grammar School and Director at Remuera Music School.
