It’s Winter – Time to Go Out!

Get your skates on and throw on a beanie because Aotea Square Ice Rink is back! Officially opening on Friday 15th June in Aotea Square, this winter-fun-land returns to add its icy sparkle to winter and delight visitors of all ages.

This year the team at Paradice Ice Rink and Auckland Live have brought back the ever popular 35 metre Ice Slide and added an Ice Bar experience that offers mocktails and cocktails. The Ice Bar will be the coolest bar in town with room for only 15 people and set to a mere -5C degrees.

Inside the Aotea Square Ice Rink skaters and spectators will be treated to a huge line up of themed weekends and parties, including the incredibly popular 4th July Americana party, an ice carnival, a winter sports weekend and so much more!

Sitting alongside Aotea Square Ice Rink, to celebrate Matariki, we will install the beautiful light podiums Pou Rama. Inspired by pouwhenua (land symbols of support), this series of free-standing light structures represents creative wairua (inspiration) which is generated from te taiao (the environment). The whakairo designs express cycles of creativity, and connections to place. Designed by Storybox in collaboration with visual artist Desna Whaanga-Schollum (Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Pahauwera).
