SHOWCASE 2018: “The Water Element”
Now
celebrating 10 years of showcasing SPFX/body art magic from
Aotearoa and around the world
NZ Body Art Showcase returns for 2018 to continue its mission of showcasing some of the greatest talent in SPFX makeup and body artistry from New Zealand and around the globe. Now celebrating a decade in the business, the annual spectacle will take place this year at Rangatira, Q Theatre on Saturday 1st September.
The central theme for this year’s showcase is ‘THE WATER ELEMENT’ which will be explored across six main categories: Water [open/non-competitive category], Pollution,Floating, Submerged [UV only], Destroyer and Resource. It will be up to this year’s contestants to explore this almighty element through the magic of SPFX and body art creations. See here for more details about the category criteria.
The crowning jewel of the NZ Body Art Showcase has always been the awarding of category winners and the grand prize, judged by a stellar line-up of industry movers and shakers. The 2018 judging panel features Sir Richard Taylor, Jonathan Smith ONZM,Kelly Ren and Hannah Tasker-Poland, who will cast their eyes over this colourful extravaganza.
Over the last two decades, New Zealand has grown into a mecca for the worldwide film and television industry, sparked by Weta Workshop’s involvement with Hollywood film production and the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy. The NZ Body Art Showcase provides well-established and upcoming artists with opportunities for exposure and employment through showcasing their work on a national stage. Historically, SPFX artists and models from New Zealand and all over the world come together to be a part of the Southern Hemisphere’s most significant body art event, to encourage and reward creative excellence in the field.
The NZ Body Art Showcase is funded with the support of Pub Charity, and proudly sponsored by Weta Workshop, Barnes, Dermalogica, David Minifie, Ember Vision,Wet Paint Magazine, Benefitz, Oceania Production, Katsura Restaurant, Thin Lizzy,BodyFX and NYX Cosmetics.
