National Youth Choir Jetting To Capital for Triple C

The choral equivalent of the junior All Blacks is performing at Triple C next month, bringing stunning singing and youthful energy to the stage.

The 50 best young singers from around the country are coming together to perform works by Brahms, Ben Parry, Orlande de Lassus and Leonie Holmes.

Under the leadership of Auckland director, David Squire, the NZ Youth Choir, is singing at Wellington’s Opera House on Sunday 9th September at 3pm.

The concert is called Triple C because it features three local choirs joining in the sing-fest.

“The New Zealand Youth Choir is thrilled to be collaborating in this festival of song. As well as performing our own stunning works, we’ll come together with the other three choirs to sing David Hamilton’s Dance-Song to the Creator,” said NZ Youth Choir director David Squire.

“The NZ Youth Choir gathers together a few times each year, so it’s a very special occasion when we have a chance to sing and perform together.”

The massed choir in Dance-Song to the Creator is accompanied by double piano and percussion.

The Triple C concert is on Sunday 9th September at the Wellington Opera House at 3pm.

The National Youth Choir is performing Flame – Ben Parry, Aurora lucis rutilat – Orlande de Lassus, Through coiled stillness – Leonie Holmes, Four Quartets, ‘Vier Quartette’ Op.92 – Johannes Brahms, and Soon-ah will be done – arr. William Dawson.
