Announcing the CS:GO ANZ Invitational

Announcing the CS:GO ANZ Invitational presented by Carl’s Jr.

LPL, New Zealand’s leading esports media company, have announced the return of the LPL Pro CS:GO ANZ Invitational presented by Carl’s Jr.

CS:GO, abbreviated from Counter Strike: Global Offensive, is a multiplayer FPS that has taken the esports scene by storm. Continuing from the success of the LPL PRO Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Alpha Invitational, this trans-Tasman tournament will see some familiar faces – such as reigning champions Grayhound Gaming.

Powered by Playtech, Logitech G, SKYCITY, Flava, and Streamline Servers, the second ANZ Invitational will kick off with a round robin on 4th October 2018 and continue on as a 6-week tournament. Viewers will be able to tune in to the live broadcasts on Thursday nights at 8pm on SKY Sport and Twitch.tv/letsplaylive.

Teams will battle it out for a prize pool of $10,000. The winners of the tournament will walk away with $5,000, with second and third placed teams taking home $3,000 and $2,000 respectively.

Playing for the prize pool are 5 teams from well-known ANZ esports organisations: Legacy, Tainted Minds, Chiefs, Breakaway and Greyhound Gaming. The 6th spot will be chosen through an open online qualifier. Teams from ANZ will compete for the opportunity to place as the final team and qualify for the round robin tournaments. Matches will be commentated by Jordan ‘Nutteres’ Morrow and Chris ‘Wayfarer’ Davis, CS:GO veterans and commentators of the inaugural Alpha Invitational. “After an extremely entertaining inaugural tournament watching some of Australasia's best players taking each other on week in week out, I'm looking forward to throwing my voice over the top of some of the best plays for this stellar Alpha Invitational Season” says Jordan ‘Nutteres’ Morrow. “With a massive $10,000 on the line I look forward to seeing who will be crowned season 2 champions!”

Carl’s Jr. will be the first quick-service restaurant in New Zealand to sponsor an esports event, following on from the success of their Call of Duty: Black Ops III campaign launched in 2015. Viewers can look forward to an array of engaging elements and activation as part of this current seasonal sponsorship campaign.
