NZ’s largest cycling event congratulates Taupo
12 October 2018
Following Wanda Sports Holdings recent announcement that the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon will be held in Taupo, the team at BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge would like to congratulate all involved, including Taupo District Council, in securing this world recognised event against stiff competition from Perth Australia.
The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge Trust and BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge management team fully support the Council in welcoming the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship event to Taupo.
We congratulate the council on attracting such a world class event to Taupo and look forward to putting together a cooperative plan that ensures that both events are delivered to the highest of standards.
As the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship is set to take place on the last week of November 2020, the BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge team are pleased to further show their support by changing the event date in 2020 for the first time in what will be by then the 44th annual running of the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
The 2020 BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge date will be set after consultation with affected parties and key stakeholders. The two potential dates for 2020 are currently November 14th or December 6th. The preferred date for the 2020 event will be announced in late February 2019.
This year’s BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge will take place on Saturday 24 November with event and entry information available at www.cyclechallenge.com
