PRESS RELEASE: For immediate release

HAMILTON UNDERGROUND PRESS ANNOUNCES FULL LINEUP DETAILS FOR ‘FUTURE CITY FESTIVAL 2019’

Hamilton Underground Press today announced the final line-up for the third year of its DIY underground music festival, FUTURE CITY FESTIVAL.

Headlining the event will be the sensational Nadia Reid, the critically acclaimed Port Chalmers-based artist who continues to establish herself across the globe. From rave reviews in The Listener, BBC 6 Music, The Guardian, MOJO and Uncut, to appearances on the BBC’s Jools Holland TV Show, Nadia’s star is very much on the rise, and her soon to released third studio album is highly anticipated throughout the music world. Her performance at The Meteor on Saturday March 9th is sure to be an incredible experience.

Joining Nadia on the bill are an array of up and coming bands and artists from across Aotearoa. The local music scene is well represented, with the return of 2008 Band Experiments winners Sora Shima being joined by newer Hamilton bands Broadcast State, Landlords, Contenders, Cartoon Villain, Bitter Defeat, Orbjks will all appear, as will singer/songwriter Macaila Eve.

Some of the country’s finest independent/unsigned bands will also be on show over the two-night festival. Auckland artists Carb On Carb, Tooms, Fables, Being, and Te Huhu will be joined by a strong Wellington contingent, namely HEX, namesake (sic), The Fatalities, Tidal Rave and Distance. Christchurch is represented this year by post-rock outfit Troika and indie rock sensation-in-the-making, Ben Woods while young Gisborne band Sit Down In Front complete the eclectic bill.

A total of 22 bands and artists will play over the course of two nights, half of which are either female-led or have female and male members, a deliberate move by the organisers. The venues for the festival are all CBD based. On Friday 9th bands will perform at Nivara Lounge and ZEAL, and on Saturday 10th at Nivara Lounge and The Meteor.

The festival schedule runs from around 7pm each evening, until the early hours. Once one band finishes playing, there is a five-minute gap before the next band starts at the next venue, which makes it possible to walk between venues and watch nearly every single band.
