Price confirmed as new ARL chair

Shane Price has been confirmed as the new chairman of the Auckland Rugby League Board of Directors, following a vote by affiliated clubs this month.
Price, who becomes the
22nd chairman to serve the organisation in its 110-year
history, first joined the Board in 2016 as an elected
director, also acting as deputy chair to Cameron McGregor
through that period.
The chair election was triggered by McGregor’s decision to step down from the role in December. The other contenders for the position in this election were Tony Kemp and Dene Biddlecombe.
“I’m very proud to be taking on this role, which brings with it a huge responsibility to the game,” Price said.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank Cameron McGregor for his 15 years of dedicated service as chairman.
“The immediate focus for me is on ensuring our clubs and the local game continue to prosper for the next 110 years, and I look forward to the journey ahead.”
Prior to joining the ARL Board, Price was the chair of the Mt Wellington Warriors club for three years, and he remains actively involved in the local game as a masters player for the Glen Innes Falcons.
There is a historic family link to the announcement as well, with Shane’s father Doug having provided two decades of service to the ARL Board, culminating in him being awarded Life Membership to the organisation.
