SIX60 Nails Western Springs
SIX60 delivered a compelling set to 50,000 fans at Western Springs Stadium last night. It was a moment of music history, demonstrating that it is possible for a New Zealand artist to not only headline but sell out Western Springs.
“This is absolutely one for the history books,” said Promoter Brent Eccles, of Eccles Entertainment.
“This is an incredibly talented and hard working group of musicians who have connected with their fans in a way that’s unprecedented. They’re the biggest New Zealand band across radio play, streaming and touring. We all admire their focus and dedication to all aspects of their craft.”
“Last night was the biggest headline show by a New Zealand artist anywhere in the world. This is a major achievement and something for all of us to be proud of, especially the band and their fans.”
SIX60 Frontman Matiu Walters said last night’s concert was an extraordinary experience for the band.
“We knew when tickets sold out so quickly that we’d have a stadium full of 50,000 people who wanted to be with us for the biggest show of our lives so far. We have amazing fans who know every word to our songs, and last night had more people than ever before singing along with us - it was SIX60 and a 50,000 person choir and it was incredible.”
“We’re really proud to be the first New Zealand band to sell out Western Springs. This concert was a huge milestone for us. Thank you to everyone who was part of it. Just wait and see what’s next.”
SIX60 play Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium on Saturday 9 March, with support from Drax Project, SWIDT, JessB and IllBaz. Remaining tickets on sale now via Ticketmaster.
