Hyundai’s Drive For Good Picks A Winner

Drive for Good, a world-first initiative, gave players at the 100th New Zealand Open the chance to win the award-winning all-new Hyundai Santa Fe, worth over $75,000, for one of three Kiwi charities, if they hit a hole-in-one on the 10th hole.

While no hole-in-one was hit at the 10th hole, Hyundai generously donated a total of $10,000 to the three deserving charities, relative to the voting results of thousands of Kiwis. Charities included Habitat for Humanity, St John and Spirit of Adventure Trust.

St John received 60% share of the voting, followed by Spirit of Adventure Trust and Habitat for Humanity with 22% and 18% respectively.

St John Director of Customers and Supporters Pete Loveridge said the charity was humbled to have been selected as one of three deserving charities in Hyundai NZ’s Drive for Good campaign and thanked the members of the public who voted for the charity. Mr Loveridge said the Drive for Good campaign was a great initiative that St John was proud to be part of.

New Zealand Hyundai General Manager Andy Sinclair says “Although no player hit a hole-in-one, it was wonderful to be able to give three deserving charities an opportunity to be involved with the tournament and to donate cash based on how many votes each charity received.”

“Playing for charity at a Golf Open isn’t done anywhere else in the world, it’s unique to New Zealand. It was great to see such positive sentiment and engagement from the public and the players themselves.”
