The spookily beloved duo of Officers Minogue and O’Leary are back on the beat (and back behind the mics) with Season 2 of Wellington Paranormal: The Podcast, launching this month across all major podcast platforms.

Produced by independent Auckland studio Frank Podcasts, the new season features more exclusive behind-the-scenes stories, ghostly gags, and paranormal ponderings from the creators, cast and crew who brought the cult TVNZ series to life.

Season 1 featured the likes of Jemaine Clement, Maaka Pohatu, Tom Sainsbury, and Jackie van Beek, while Season 2 kicks off strong with Melanie Bracewell – one of the show’s writers – taking the guest chair. Coming up are even more special guests, including Harvey Guillén, star of the US spinoff What We Do in the Shadows and also spotted in Blue Beetle, Reacher and Puss in Boots.

Says Guillén 'Yes, I was a guest on Wellington Paranormal: The Podcast and no, I wouldn’t do it again. Unless they asked.”

The show is now moving to a weekly release schedule, delivering regular doses of supernatural silliness for its highly engaged and ever-growing audience.

“Our audience is wildly loyal – for reasons we don’t fully understand,” said Minogue. “They kept nagging us to do more episodes, so here we are!”

The series lifts the curtain on the creative mischief, chaos, and commitment behind one of New Zealand’s most successful comedy exports – a show that sold to over 100 countries and became a worldwide cult favourite.

“We always say this podcast is for the fans,” said O’Leary. “But mostly it’s for us, so we can relive our glory days and pretend we’re still filming. Also, we love a good yarn.”

Developed and recorded at Frank Podcasts, the show is part of a growing portfolio of talent-led content that’s been produced at the independent Auckland studio like Extremely Casual Gamers with Chris Key, Ellie Harwood and Guy Mansell; Human/Spirit with Rachel Hunter, and the upcoming Party Science with Dr. Joel Rindelaub and Courtney Dawson

Frank founder Mike Minogue said the show’s return reflects the appetite for authentic, locally-made podcasting:

“Podcasting lets talent keep building audiences and telling stories beyond the screen – and we’ve built a space where that’s not only possible, but sustainable. The love people have for Wellington Paranormal is real – and this podcast gives them more of the good stuff, straight from the source.”

Wellington Paranormal: The Podcast is available now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and all other major platforms. New episodes drop weekly.
