Celebrating new works and unique experiences across art in all its forms, Lōemis has become a cultural highlight in New Zealand’s festival landscape, drawing locals and visitors to experience an impressive mix of art, music, food, performances, and immersive experiences. Dive into this unique festival, set among some of Pōneke’s finest, treasured locations and venues.

This year’s lineup features a wide range of performances and installations, including:

Clear Path Ensemble: Experience a lush suite of new music from these supremely-talented innovators in the leafy surrounds of the Begonia House. The group, led by virtuoso drummer and producer Cory Champion, are releasing their new album Black Sand.

Earth Tongue: fresh from Dark Mofo, and off the back of a series of high profile European tours, this hefty psych-fuzz duo now bring their mind altering, cult-like live performance to the big stage at Meow Nui. The berlin-based group are flying high, and have recently been nominated for New Zealand’s prestigious Aotearoa Music Awards and Taite Music Prize.

Max Gordy: multi award-winning chef Max Gordy returns with a culinary experience that takes its cues from neolithic times, albeit through the contemporary lens he has become known for.

Bret McKenzie and The State Highway Wonders: A rare chance to hear this award-winning musician and comedian up close at the Hannah Playhouse, backed by a standout eight-piece band featuring musicians from the Vera Ellen band, Trinity Roots, Congress of Animals and more. Bret will give a sneak preview of songs from his forthcoming record Freak Out City, as well as tunes and stories from his extraordinary career, which has seen him performing around the globe. And to make the night a truly unique experience he’ll collaborate with the audience to pen a brand new song live on stage.
“Brings the house down… McKenzie is undoubtedly at his best” The Guardian

Anemic Cinema: Wellington’s beloved Roxy Cinema hosts this premiere performance showcasing a series of silent, avant-garde films that include new scores by film composers David Long (The Luminaries, The Hobbit); and Andrew Faleatua, played live by the acclaimed Stroma ensemble.

Flashpoint :: Synapse: is an arresting new suite of music by Justin Firefly Clarke that delves into human perception and the formation of impressions and memories. Performed against a backdrop of total darkness, musicians are illuminated by a synchronised array of lights that focus on each individual performer. Presented during Matariki, it’s a deeply immersive experience that sets up a series of interconnected cycles, much like memories, that fade, recur and are sometimes also lost altogether.

Waypeople: is a sonic and visual journey through ancient philosophical texts with lyrics drawn from author Ursula Le Guin's poetic English language version of the Tao te Ching, featuring new music by Jake Baxendale (The Jac) and striking low-fi visual art by Nikita Tu-Bryant (Kita).

Sprites: An enchanting light and sound installation inspired by forest spirits, set in the trees around Pukeahu. Created in collaboration with Marcus McShane.

Dark Night :: Love Party: A one of a kind, good time celebration on the longest night of the year, featuring new punk-pop band Love Party on debut (the brainchild of Kate Yesberg and Dayle Jellyman); hybrid surf rockers The Electrons; and an extremely rare cameo appearance from Flute Journeys – an offbeat mass flute ensemble with the self described playing abilities of 5-12 year olds.
