FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STUDENT LEADERS
PLEASED WITH GOVERNMENT RESPONSE TO CONCERNS
The
APSU Student Union is happy that WINZ has taken on board
their concerns and moved to remedy problems with their 0800
phone line.
It was reported that approximately 22% of
calls last week were lost by WINZ because of overloading and
the APSU Student Union's feedback has backed up this
data.
"Information from students received by the APSU
Student Union suggest that while last week there were severe
delays and student calls were often cut off, this week the
call waiting time has been kept to a minimum," says David
Penney.
The majority of problems with WINZ arose last
year in February and March when students started arriving
back on campus.
David Penney says the largest influx
of student loan and allowance applications has still yet to
come.
"We have been assured that WINZ are aware that
the deluge of applications is coming and we hope for the
sake of students that they can cope with it." says David
Penney.
