AUSA Not Responsible for Craccum Content
“The content of Craccum is completely out of our hands,” said Auckland University Students’ Association President Kane Stanford today in relation to complaints received by the association in relation to the suicide issue published by Craccum this week.
“While Craccum receives AUSA funding, AUSA has no direct control over the magazine’s content,” said Mr Stanford. Mr Stanford said that because the editor of Craccum is elected they are answerable to students and not the AUSA executive.
If students are unhappy about the content of Craccum they have two possible avenues to follow. Firstly they can make a complaint to the associations Media Complaints Tribunal or secondly they can call a motion of no confidence in the editors of Craccum.
“While AUSA is obviously concerned about some of the complaints made, we urge students who are unhappy about the content of the magazine to go through the proper procedure to ensure that their voices are heard,” concluded Mr Stanford.
