Commissioner for Forbury School in Dunedin
A former principal of Mt Aspiring College, Mike Allison, is to be commissioner of Forbury School in Dunedin following the resignation of the school's board of trustees.
Mr Allison will be responsible for the functions and duties of the board until a new one is elected.
Ministry National Operations Manager in Dunedin, Pam Robertson, says Mike Allison has acted in the commissioner role before, and has much experience in working to assist boards of trustees.
"His professional background, interpersonal skills and level of commitment will enable him to address the current issues at the school," she said.
The daily management of Forbury School will continue to be the responsibility of the principal, Myrlene Wilkinson, in consultation with the commissioner.
"The parents of children at the school can be assured that every step is being taken to ensure that this event does not affect the education provided at the school," said Pam Robertson.
"The appointment of a commissioner is an interim measure. It will be Mike Allison's job to help the school to operate effectively and to address its immediate concerns."
