The Alliance Needs To Pull Together
The Aotearoa Tertiary Students’ Association (ATSA) is angry that the infighting within the Alliance Party is threatening to overshadow the real issues in election year. “The Alliance is one of the few parties with the guts to confront the student debt crisis head on,” said Julie Pettett, President of ATSA.
“Student Loan Debt is out of control and the Labour Party is passively allowing this to explode exponentially. Students need the Alliance to strongly represent the issue to its coalition partner.”
Student debt solutions put forward by the Alliance are going to be a key point of difference between the Alliance and the major parties. “At a time when student debt has reached $5 billion, students need the Alliance to be working cohesively as a unit,” stated Pettett.
Resolving the Student Debt crisis is a major election issue for all political parties. “ATSA wants to see parties focus on student debt solutions, and this year is the time to see them.”
