Heads of the school heads announced

Nelson’s Jenny Earle has been reelected unopposed as president of the New Zealand Principals’ Federation.

This announcement, along with the naming of the new National Executive, was made at the Federation’s Annual General Meeting held in Wellington yesterday. The AGM is part of the annual conference, which runs until Saturday and has attracted about 1000 delegates.

Jenny Earle says she has enjoyed the challenge of her first year as president and is looking forward to continuing this work with the new executive.

“As with previous years we have attracted a high calibre of principals to the positions on the executive. Collectively they bring a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge to the table, which will ensure that principals around the country are well represented. And of course, as a result we will see the learning and teaching in our schools benefit.”

She says that while the positions on the executive are not regionally based, it is also pleasing that there is a good regional representation from the successful candidates.

The other positions to be announced included Vice-President Kelvin Squire (Stratford), Secretary Judy Hanna (Auckland), and Treasurer Geoff Lovegrove (Feilding). These three positions were also unopposed.

The National Executive is as follows: Ernie Buutveld (Havelock); Madeleine East (Auckland); Marion Fitchett (Wellington); Paddy Ford (Dunedin); Barry Hambleton (Auckland); Julie Hepburn (Levin); Colleen Murray (Auckland); Pat Newman (Whangarei); Gavin Price (Christchurch); and Peter Simpson (Christchurch).
