New Legislation Welcomed By The Industry Training Federation
The Industry Training
Federation (ITF) welcomes the passing of the Tertiary
Education Reform Bill today.
“The ITF sees the passing of the Tertiary Education Reform Bill and the establishment of the Tertiary Education Commission as vital to formalising the position of Industry Training as a key component of the integrated tertiary education sector,” said Marilyn Brady, Chairperson of the ITF.
“This change sets the scene for a more responsive and strategic tertiary education system which will contribute more strongly to New Zealand economic and social goals,” said Ms Brady.
“The ITF acknowledges the cross party support and their recognition of the important and effective role of ITOs,” said Ms Brady.
Industry Training is an integral part of the vision to transform New Zealand into a knowledge society.
“A highly skilled workforce engaged in continuous learning and adaptable to change is an essential foundation for the economic and social well-being of New Zealand,” said Ms Brady.
The passing of the Tertiary Education Reform Bill today is an important milestone.
“There’s goodwill, a strong sense of direction and now TEC is fully constituted. The ITF and ITOs look forward to playing a full and constructive role in creating a more responsive and strategic tertiary education sector,” said Ms Brady.
