Auckland International College Announces New
Appointment
Auckland International College (AIC) has created a new position to ensure its students will be well provided for.
The College recently appointed Raymond Wong to the position of Student Welfare Manager.
Originally from Singapore, Raymond recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching at the Auckland University of Technology, and will take up his position at the College on Monday 25 November.
Josh Sasai, Executive Director of Auckland International College, says that Raymond's appointment demonstrates AIC's commitment to ensuring the health and welfare of its students.
"Taking care of the individual needs of each of our international students during their time at AIC is paramount," says Josh. "We want to make their stay in Auckland as enjoyable and easy as possible, while providing an internationally recognised education of the highest standard."
Raymond is looking forward to his new role taking care of the needs and interests of initially, around 40 students from as far afield as China.
"Primarily my responsibility will include familiarising students with the New Zealand lifestyle and culture," he says.
"I will facilitate an orientation programme that will introduce them to all aspects of New Zealand life, including setting up bank accounts, immigration, student visas, safety, and other routine activities such as transport, entertainment, sport, and any medical and health queries they may have."
Raymond will act as liaison between students and teachers, and will be available on a rostered timetable basis to help answer all students' queries, and identify any potential problem areas.
